Blood Pressure Monitor
An ambulatory blood pressure monitor (ABPM) is a small, non-invasive device worn on your arm that takes your blood pressure and records changes or fluctuations over a short period of time (usually 24 hours). It is usually ordered for the evaluation of hypertension or hypotension, and for the evaluation of blood pressure medication.
The monitor sits in a pouch held by a waist belt or shoulder strap. At regular intervals, your blood pressure is measured and recorded while you are going about your everyday activities. Once the 24-hour period is over, we analyze the recordings and a report is sent to your doctor.
