Osteoporosis is a condition that causes bones to become thin and porous, which can be determined with musculoskeletal diagnostic services. It decreases their strength and increases the risk of a fracture, which is most likely to occur in the wrist, spine, shoulder, and hip. It is often called the “silent thief” because bone deterioration occurs without symptoms until it becomes fractured. Diagnosing musculoskeletal disorders early on will enable early intervention and treatment.

Osteoporotic fractures are more common than heart attacks, strokes, and breast cancer combined. In fact, at least 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will be affected by osteoporosis during their lifetime, and 80% of all fractures in Canadians over the age of 50 are caused by this condition.
