Women’s Health
Breast cancer is the most common diagnosis of female cancer, affecting 1 in 8 Canadian women. More than 80% of breast cancers are found in women over the age of 45, and most women who are diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease.
At WELL Health Diagnostic Centres, we recommend all women ages 40-74 receive breast screenings every 2 years, as early detection is key to successful treatment. You don’t need a doctor’s referral, nor are any symptoms or family history required for these complimentary screenings.
Please note: Starting October 8, 2024, the Ontario government has lowered the eligible ages for self-referred breast screenings from 50-74 to 40-74.
